A40-30-10 is a 3-pole, block-type ABB A-series contactor for controlling 3-phase motors and power circuits up to 690 V AC or 220 V DC. It has 3 NO main contacts and one built-in NO auxiliary. Typical uses include motor control (AC-3), isolation, capacitor switching (AC-6b), and lighting loads.

AC-3 motor power: 11 kW @ 220/230/240 V; 18.5 kW @ 380/400/415 V; 22 kW @ 440/500/690 V. AC-3 operational current Ie: 40 A @ 220/230/240 V; 37 A @ 380/400/415/440 V; 33 A @ 500 V; 25 A @ 690 V (all at 55 °C).

Rated control circuit voltage (Uc): 220–230 V 50 Hz / 230–240 V 60 Hz. Typical coil consumption: pull-in ~125 VA @ 50 Hz (120 VA @ 60 Hz); holding ~12 VA (typical). Device frequency limits are 25–400 Hz; coil is AC-operated with a laminated magnet circuit.

Storage: −60 to +80 °C. Operation (without thermal O/L relay, 0.85…1.1 Uc): −40 to +55 °C; with thermal O/L relay: −25 to +55 °C. Use screw terminals; ensure proper conductor sizing and torque per datasheet. Conventional free-air thermal current Ith: 65 A (IEC 60947-4-1, main circuit); 16 A (IEC 60947-5-1, aux).
